Aujourd'hui, le prince et la princesse de Prusse célèbrent leur dixième anniversaire de mariage !

Les fiançailles du prince Georg Friedrich de Prusse et de la princesse Sophie d'Isenburg ont été annoncées en janvier 2011. Ils étaient en couple depuis de nombreuses années. Georg Friedrich et Sophie sont cousins au sixième degré ; tous deux sont des descendants du grand-duc Karl de Mecklembourg-Strelitz (1741-1816) et de son épouse la princesse Friederike Caroline de Hesse-Darmstadt (1752-1782).

Né le 10 juin 1976 à Brême, le prince Georg Friedrich Ferdinand de Prusse était le premier enfant et le seul fils du prince Louis Ferdinand de Prusse (1944-1977) et de son épouse la princesse Donata (1950-2015 ; née comtesse zu Castell-Rüdenhausen), qui se sont mariés en 1975. Georg Friedrich a une sœur, née après la mort tragique de leur père : la princesse Cornelie-Cécile (née en 1978).

Née le 7 mars 1978 à Francfort, la princesse Sophie Johanna Maria d'Isenburg était le quatrième enfant et la troisième fille du prince Franz Alexander d'Isenburg (1943-2018) et de son épouse la princesse Christine (née en 1941 ; née comtesse von Saurma), qui se sont mariés en 1968. Sophie a quatre frères et sœurs : le prince Alexander (né en 1969 ; marié à Sarah Lorenz), la princesse Katharina (née en 1971 ; mariée à l'archiduc Martin d'Autriche), la princesse Isabelle (née en 1973 ; mariée au prince Carl zu Wied) et le prince Victor (né en 1979 ; marié à Jungeun Lee).

On 25 August 2011, Prince Georg Friedrich of Prussia and Princess Sophie of Isenburg were civilly married at Potsdam. Their religious wedding followed two days later, on 27 August. As the groom is Protestant (Lutheran) and the bride is Roman Catholic, the ecumenical religious ceremony took place at the Friedenskirche, where the Protestant pastor Michael Wohlrab and the retired Roman Catholic abbot Count Georg Henckel von Donnersmarck presided over the nuptials.

The wedding of the Prince and Princess of Prussia was attended by a multitude of royal and noble families. Representatives from the houses of Anhalt, Austria, Baden, Bavaria, Belgium, Bourbon-Parma, Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Hannover, Hesse, Hohenzollern, Jordan, Lippe, Luxembourg, Mecklenburg, Oldenburg, Portugal, Prussia, Reuss, Romania, Russia, Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Saxony, Schaumburg-Lippe, and Schleswig-Holstein were present.

Prince Georg Friedrich and Princess Sophie of Prussia have four children: the twins Prince Carl Friedrich and Prince Louis Ferdinand (b.2013), Princess Emma (b.2015), and Prince Heinrich (b.2016).
